Chapel Hill, 2008

Yes, another spider post, but I'm completely fascinated by this tenacious spider that keeps spinning gigantic, elaborate webs (note the extra thick "zipper" part too) in my doorway. This time I was only home for an hour before opening the door and finding that the (not so) little guy had webbed me in again. Like a ghost inhabiting an old mansion, I feel like I may have moved into his house and he's just letting me know. I knocked his ornate web down again in order to leave, but now see that he's set up shop underneath my deck, so we're living harmoniously.

I woke up to find that an industrious (and huge) spider had spun a fully-formed web in my doorway in a matter of about 8 hours. And during a tropical storm, no less. The impressive little guy was just seeking some shelter from the rain, and I felt bad pulling it down, but I had to leave my house.
