Developing Country Sad Doggy Hall of Fame

Those who know me know that I have an oversized soft spot for dogs. But I particularly fall sway to the charms of those pups who can be described (diplomatically) as developing country street dogs. I say these scrappy fellas deserve some glamour shots too.

Botha's Hill, South Africa:Maybe he's just tuckered from chasing springboks and zebras!

Monterrico, Guatemala:
Josh shook his head when I took this one. "Kate, that is the ugliest dog in the world." Nuh uh!Bangkok, Thailand:
In Bangkok, it was clear that the moneyed set preferred pristine, puffy dogs, as shown in the Barky Dog store window below, perhaps to distinguish their pet from the street variety.Personally, I like this champ, who looks like he's taken a few jabs but still comes up from the count.
The best thing about that photo is right after I took it, the dog turned his head and puked.

This happy li'l fella was also in Bangkok. He's nearly a jackal! The night we wearily returned to Bangkok from our road trip, Seth, Shane and I were in a taxi. The three of us looked out the window right as a little doggy disappeared under the roll of a car's tire. We all gasped. Seth and Shane were so sweet and protective--they swore that the dog escaped. I knew it was impossible, but I appreciated their false optimism.

More to follow, surely, after further travels.
